Hi, Internal SATA HDD has become inaccessible, it's used as storage. It's not that old and has had minimal use.
  • It shows in the BIOS.
  • In Windows it shows the drive name, drive letter and NTFS.
  • In Disk Manager it looks like a BASIC drive.

I can probably reformat it and re-use it, but although I have most of it backed up, I would like to see what's in it.
What I get when I click on it is:

Location is not available
D:\ is not accessible.
Access is denied.

I do have full permission, so it's not that.
I already ran chkdsk D:/f/r but to no avail.
Next stage is to use a recovery software I think.
What do you guys think?
Could you recomend a free and reliable software please?
Thank You.

Buy a USB to sata adapter cable and connect the drive.
You should be able to see the contents and copy them.
I have got a USB caddy, but unfortunately it's the same problem even in another computer.
Although not accessable, the drive is visible by Windows 10 as drive F: (not the operating system drive)
Any idea what has happened all of the sudden. as it was fine a day before? Please see photo.

What's the model name of the drive?

Can you show screenshot from Disk Management?
Connect the drive directly to pc with sata cables. No usb adapters.

Also show screenshot from Hdtune health.
Hi SkyNetRising

Disk Managmet looks normal like you would expect from a heathy drive
Sorry not sure what Hdtune is

OK, I found the culprit,
Amazingly, no online search direct search results to Tom's with that problem.
I understand why people here not willing to help to a possible data hack.
I will start a new post to explain what had happened in due course.
Thank you nonetheless.
