internally formatted hdd not seen externally

as per title i have a 3tb seagate that i partitioned and formatted internally, its fine, no errors, but when i remove this drive and put it in a external enclosure it doesn't show up (enclosure is a seagate 3.0 mains powered one).

is the partition/formatting internally different to that which is needed to be seen externally.

ps the ports drive enclosure are all ok, as iv tried them previously, also i seem to remember this happening before in reverse ie a hdd partitioned/formatted externally didn't show up internally.

any ideas?

It's likely the external enclosure is getting a bit picky with things. The enclosure should have a manual - what does it say re HDD requirements? can it manage HDDs itself e.g. format?

Hi

Older usb trays have a 2 TB limit

Sometimes usb trays dont get auto assigned a drive letter
You may need to go to disk management to assign the drive letter

Check if the usb tray is shown in device manager if not seen in disk management

the enclosure is actually the one the drive came from, it shows in disk management but i cant edit it in anyway. weirdly i diskpart/cleaned it externally, when i put it back internally previous files were still on it
