internet acctount setup

i'm starting the final setup on my new computer. i setup the dial-up connection and e-mail etc and it's working fine. except for my password. i have it setup so i don't have to enter it in all the time. however instead of my password it's some long thing that i can't figure how it got it. i try changing it and then logging in and it still reverts back to what it originally had. any ideas has to how to change it?

no windows 2000 pro. i set it up 1st under network connection. i tried making a new one, several times, but no matter what i put in as my password it still changes it to that long thing. i then went into ie and tried to change it there to no avail. the help feature is no help. i tried changing it, logging on, exiting and then rebooting and it still comes back up.

it's more of a pia than anything else. i can log on fine as long as i change it.
