Internet connect being dropped from switch/access point

Internet connection gets frequently dropped in one part of my network. It is set up as follows:

Internet --> modem --> main router --> switch --> wireless access point.

Also connected to the switch is an Apple TV and a stereo receiver.

I am using dynamic DHCP on the main router. DHCP is disabled on the access point. IP address for the router and access point are on a different subnet. This setup was working well for over a year, but somehow over the last few days has not worked well.

When everything is working well, port status on the router show that the speed is 1GBps, the port on the switch is green (D-link). When everything does not work, the port status on the router shows that the speed is 10/100 Mbps and the port on the D-link switch is orange.

The only way I can get things working again is to either turn off and on the router, switch or access point. Things would work well for several hours, and then again the internet connection would drop. This seems to have worked for a while but over the last few days it has not worked well. Could there be interference from another wireless source messing things up?

Any help would be appreciated. I'm just very perplexed about this problem as the network was working well for such a long time.

First of all why is the subnet different on your Access Point? So why not have your access point on the same subnet and scheme if your only on one network? Try and make sure that the access point has a static IP thats on the same IP scheme and subnet on to what the routers scope is.

It is on static IP. I'll try to put it on the same subnet scheme and see. I think it was in the past and it wasn't working so I changed it. That being said, I have another access point which is also on a different scheme but appears to be working well. The access point which is working is the Dlink DAP-1552. The access point that has been giving me problems is the DAP-2553 if that would make a difference?

Right now I have disconnected the AP from the switch and so far it's working well, so I think it is an issue with the AP configuration.

Both AP are on different SSID and both are on 2.4 ghz. I tried to reconnect the AP again and it worked for a day (with the AP on the same subnet, I even reserved the IP on the DCHP), now it cut off again. For some reason I can't connect back to internet from the switch. On the main router the status of the port remains at 10/100 mbps. Could the problem be with the main router?

For some reason, I can't get internet connection back to the switch. I've unplugged and replugged both the switch and the main router without success. This is what made me think the main router is the issue. It's a Cisco/Linksys E3200. I've just picked up a Lynksys AS1200+ and will try to swap out the main router and see if there is a difference.

BTW port status on the E3200 remains 10/100 instead of 1 gbps when it works. Do you know why this would be?
