Recently had a problem where my internet connection seems to drop out. I get thrown out of games. Cannot load web-pages ("no internet connection" messages). The normal no-internet stuff. However the network and sharing center during these periods doesn't think that I have lost connection to my homes WiFi network.
"So you've just got crap broadband?"
Yes, I do actually. But I think there's more to it than that. The problem seems to persist even when I'm in a location where I know that there's decent broadband/wifi. I have also found a quick fix is to turn wifi on my laptop off and then on again (or quickly turn on airplane mode) - this appears to immediately fix the problem, if only for a time. If I don't do this then I can be waiting hours for the internet to become available again. This suggests to me that there's a problem with my device rather than my broadband. But then again, I'm no expert.
I have a Dell Inspiron 15-7000 with Windows 10. Windows is up-to-date. My drivers all appear to be up-to-date. I sent my device off for repair a couple of weeks ago and they claim to have found and solved some firmware corruption. I did a fresh windows install, using a USB with a fresh download, upon it returning. I use a secure network. Although I have VPN software, I don't use it and ensure that it's not running most of the time.
Has anyone encountered this problem before and/or know of any fixes?
If you need any additional info, please let me know!
Thanks!
