Internet connection inconsistent

I have a DSL connection that is very inconsistent.

By that I mean pages often fail to load, pictures appear with a red x and don't show up and it sometimes takes me many many refreshes to get them to load properly.

This is most definitely a problem with the connection itself since I've been using a 4G+ connection for months now which is perfect and none of the problems appear.

Whenever my monthly quota is reached I have to switch back to using my DSL connection and the problems start again...

I've talked to my ISP countless times with no avail. I have just given up on them.

What can I do to fix this problem? Speed is not the issue, I seem to have many lost packets when pinging websites.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as my frustration needs to be put to rest!

Master socket is the one which is connected directly to incoming phone cable from pole outside.

That's the socket to which your router should be connected for best performance & the least trouble.

If your router or modem isn't connected to master socket you should ideally re-organise your equipment to make it so.

Also, use of telephone extension cords should be avoided throughout the home - - don't use them. Buy a set of cordless phones and plug base-unit in to the master socket instead. That's what I did - - ripped out both my phone extension cords - - broadband now behaves itself & is 10 times better.

Thanks for the answer but how can I identify the master socket?

Is this something I can figure out or should I call my ISP and ask them about it?

Here take a look at this, it should help you. Most master sockets are in the hallway or by the front door, in some rare cases it could be in the loft!
