Question Internet connection sharing keeps dropping

I don't know what this comes under, wired or wireless

I share my internet connection of which my laptop connects to the internet, but shares this with my NAS drive. The problem is that Internet sharing (not to be mistaken for internet that I have for my laptop) keeps losing connection

I know that I can change the IP of the devices that are connected to the ethernet switch, but apart from doing something accidentally wrong the the regedit software, is there an alternative way to change the Internet Sharing IP address from the 192.168.137.1?

Why aren't these devices simply connecting to the router, and getting their IP address from there?

I'm sharing the internet, because packages need updating, let alone the OS of the NAS
The reason why I don't connect to the router, is because I don't have access to the router i.e. its not my internet, its an internet I'm sharing

I don't know what I did, but the internet sharing hasn't dropped at all recently
