Hello there again I need some input on a matter where I am building a website that has a lot of flash games on it the whole thing is about half a gig in size so I was thinking that I would host it on my home server but I'm kinda wondering if my home connection would work fine for it because my download speed is 8Mbps and the upload is between 800-1024Kbps at least that's what the internet provider says all opinions are appreciated

Thanks in advance

Don't do it.

While your connection might handle couple of people in a relatively slow speed, the amount of bandwith used by videos/games will fastly overgrow as the amount of people grows. And since hosting packages are cheap, and always come with 100mbps to 1gbps lines, there is no point to have your own unit at home for such task.

I've ran my own http-server on 1mbps line, and while it worked fairly well, it was mostly for just storing my files and general self-educational purpoise.
Now I have 100mbps line at home, and I could host pretty much everything on that - while I haven't dedicated a whole unit for webserver, I limit what I do on it anyways.

Why I wanted to do it was for the educational side of things to see how well it would work. but I have other sites that have static information as well as a video site that has embedded videos what do you think about hosting those sites at home?
