First off, I have charter spectrum which is supposed to be 60mbps. Occasionally while on my PC(wired) I will just disconnect from the internet and it'll automatically reconnect me right back to it. This makes it impossible to play any online game and is very frustrating. I know it is not a PC issue because when it was happening one time, I tried to connect to Xbox Live on my Xbox One and I would disconnect and reconnect a lot on there too. My router is pretty old and doesn't allow me to get the 60 download speed charter provides, but its worked fine stability wise for a long time. Charter sent us a new modem last summer, so that is relatively new. I'm wondering if this is a problem with either of those things or if its just charter throttling me. Thanks for reading!

I don't know if this will resolve your problem but it sounds similar to an issue I had with my cable ISP.

I would have an intermittent internet connection that would timeout when I tried to ping my provider's DNS.

To resolve this, I disabled IPV6 within my router. You could give this a try to see if it fixes your issue.
good luck

When the Internet drops does it drop for everything attached to the Router or is it just your PC, if everything loses connection and the drops are random then it's a good chance there is a break on your line somewhere, check the phone wiring and plug socket in your house for damage and call your ISP, they should be able to look back at your internet connection and see any drops that have happened.

They should if they are doing their job right monitor your line for about 24 hours to have a look and if anything happens a engineer should be assigned to sort it, with random drops my guess is you have a break in the line outside your house and only your ISP can sort it.
