[SOLVED] Internet disconnects, boots me, then reconnects immediately.

As of 4-5 days ago I am having this problem where I will be in the middle of playing a game and my internet will disconnect for a split second, boot me from any game I'm playing, then immediately allow me to reconnect. This occurs anywhere from every 10-15 minutes to a little over an hour. My internet doesn't appear to actually be going out, but just dropping for that small fraction of a second and it's enough to disconnect me from anything I'm doing. I've literally tried every possible fix I could think of myself such as the following: update network drivers, update router firmware, flash router firmware to tomato, turned off firewall/antivirus, rolled back windows to a time when it was working, fresh installed windows.

Basically I'm out of ideas, beyond frustrated, and losing hope. I'd appreciate any ideas at all.

Solution
That sounds like your fairly common packet loss problem. Run constant ping to your router IP to be sure it is not your pc or router.

You can then leave a ping run to something like 8.8.8.8. If you see packet loss to this ip but not to the router is means there is a problem outside your house. You could at this point call the ISP and hope they are not idiots and will not try to blame the 8.8.8.8 server. It almost always is some problems with the cabling going to your house.

If you have a cable modem there maybe messages in the log and you can look at the signal levels and search to see if they are withing recommended ranges.

I am currently running a ping test to both my router and game servers that I normally play on. Will post my results in a couple hours or so when I get a chance. Thank you for your input.

Edit: It just happened to occur again while I was running a the ping test. 0% reported packet loss, but the logs from my router show there was "[Admin login failure] from source", the source being the IP to my PC. Could this have anything to do with it?
