I have run into an interesting problem here this morning.
I recently upgraded my machine from an intel celeron 300a at 464MHZ to an Intel PIII 750EB @ 933 MHZ. this went well, and it seemed stable for several days. then it locked up on me once. i figured, ok, no big deal. but then it started locking up more frequently. Thats when it hit me. It only Locked up in internet explorer 6 beta. and only on web pages which have the most recent Intel web advertisement. the one with the cell phone and the stadium display in it. How ironic. the company who makes the processor I choose, turns out to be the snake that bites me~!

Has anyone else experienced this?
I tried reinstalling the public preview of IE6 with no effect. Should I try dumping the web cache and temporary internet files?

Try not running beta programs if they give you trouble. Stay with IE 5.5 and wait for the finished version of 6.

Yeah... it is a "preview" version after all.

frankly I am suprised,
after all, of all the people I would expect to hang out on the bleeding edge, the guys reading the forum here, i would figure the responses would be more constructive.

oh well.

Of coarse you will be surprised, even people which hanging out on the bleeding edge cannot guess what OS you are running and what is condition of it, how you installed IE (on clean OS install, or after the CPU+Mobo upgrade and same OS you were running on Celeron of yours, etc.) Just be more specific and you will get "there", hehe

PS: I am running IE-6 for more 2 months now on Win2k srv which installed on K7 TB (@933 as well) without any difficulties.

Post, we'll do the "search"...

Well, I can tell you that I use IE 6 beta on one of my 4 machines and it seems to work flawlessly. The only trouble I have (that I know is due to IE6) is that I can't log onto certain secure web sites because they don't support IE6 yet (for obvious reasons). If it isn't working for you I would guess it may have issues with certain other applications or hardware that you have and I don't. Good luck!

I.E.6 did the opposite for my 3 pc's, they all used to crash if I had more than 5 or 6 browser windows open at the same time, it would normally freeze the system until I end tasked it, or sometimes on the 98 system it gave an illop, since i.e.6 I've had no problems at all, I've also a few friends who have had similar probs with "earlier" versions of i.e. and I have advised them to upgrade to 6, they also hav seen an improvement. Maybe deleting your temp internet files/cookies etc will do the trice- wont do any harm - just remember any passwords on web pages you visit!!.

Next time you wave - use all your fingers

I removed my install of win2k and reinstalled everything except for IE6 preview.
Everything works fine now, but I cant say I am willing to give the preview another go of it....

Note: why did I do this?

I installed the new update for EZCD Creator 5 platinum....
bad mistake, it hosed my Raid controller drivers...
effectively killing the OS to the point where a complete reinstall was the only way out.

This was an issue Roxio was aware of, but didnt post it prominently on the download info page.
and curiously, the link to download the fix is broken for some reason?

The patch links are operational now, as of 1 a.m.

Here's a link to get you back there in a flash!

Ever thought about using Nero?

I use Nero exclusively and higly recommend it. I tried EZCD Creator 5 for about a day, but it just seems like bloatware to me. It tries do just about everything, but doesn't do any one function very well. That included with the lovely Win2K bug will keep me away from it

Sarcasm maybe the recourse of a weak mind,
But it can be funny as hell.

Don't use any IE browser...
Opera 5 is the BEST browser in the world!!!

My brother had the same problem. He took out his Viper2 and put in his radeon 64 from work and that solved his problem. If you could get ahold of another video card. You might wanna try that. It worked for him.
