Internet Explorer Issue

I have a Dell laptop with Vista that keeps opening Internet explorer everytime I go to exit Internet Explorer. The only way to get out is to completely turn off the computer. Why is this happening? Is this a virus?

Scan from VIRUS.

I use AVG free version and it didn't find a virus. Is there another program that looks for different viruses?
