So I have a router in my basement which gives wifi to everything in the house fine. My computer is upstairs but won’t connect to it for some reason. I avoided this issue before with ethernet and wifi extender, but the cord broke and i have others but they dont work. So now i have no internet on my computer as theres no wifi recognized and ethernet cord broke. I dont think it is the router because my phone is connected to wifi and typing this out right next to computer.

Solution
If the lights are coming on, then you have a physical connection. Do you have access to another computer? Please download Malwarebyte ... https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/thankyou/ ... That will scan your computer for viruses which I kinda think is your issue.

Then download Spybot ... https://www.safer-networking.org/private/details/#free ... this another virus scanner.

Let us know if you found anything and if it helped.
Your Ethernet cable "broke" ... like you cut it or something? And none of the others work. And you can't connect to wifi? That seems odd. Seems more like there is something going on with the computer. Is this Windows 10? If so, I would reset the network.
In the Windows Search / Cortana bar type "Network status" and hit enter. At the bottom of the status page you should see Network Reset ... click that.

Other things to check. When you plug in an Ethernet cable to your computer, do the lights around the Ethernet port come on?
A virus scan, just in case.
Open a command prompt and type "ipconfig /all" and see if things look right.
