Internet is broken, help.

Yeah, basically my internet is broke. I'm not sure what caused it, but a few weeks ago I started having trouble with steam taking years to download or update a game. I went from being able to download conan exiles in roughly 20 minutes to taking 6 and a half hours to update the game last week. If Im in discord when I open steam, i get dc'd or robo voice until I close steam or stop the update steam is doing. I've done a speed test and where I used to get 60 Mbps download, I now get in the mid to low 20s. Ping is high as well, 112 where as it was 9. My upload is 0.44, it was 5-7. This happened out of no where, I didn't relocate the modem or router throughout the house. I'm connected by the ethernet cable, my sister is wireless, but we have the same problem. Sometimes the internet will just drop and the tel 1 line on the modem blinks until it comes back on. We've called our prov. and he just told me to update the router, the modem was up to date. did that, and nothing happened. I updated my network driver, still no improvement. What else can I try? No one around me who has the same prov. is having problems. Thanks in advanced! I'm not too good at this kind of stuff haha.

Reset the router, and make sure that nothing is blocking it. If it doesn't get good airflow it can get quite hot.

Yes, I'd consider replacing the router. I got fed up with two Netgear ones that started playing silly beggars after a year or two, and got quite hot.

So I bit the bullet & bought an expensive Billion router that screws to the wall so it stays super-cool even though it's switched on 24/7. Got it five years ago and it's been totally reliable.

How would i know for sure if its the router? Is there a simple test i could do? And how much was the billion router if you dont mind me asking.

It was £130 - - - only way to test if it's the router is to swap it out with another one - - borrow one if you can before buying a new one.
