Hi,

I've a laptop which is connected to a corporate LAN. I've just change my seat on other desk where my internet is not working but weird thing is that other laptop with same OS and model working fine. If I'm changing LAN port on the switch from previous location to changed location then it works fine but when I'm going at my old location from where I've relocated internet is started working again it means internet is working at both place. Can anyone answer it why is this happening? :??:

Hi Alyoshka,

Thanks for the reply!
The problem is only with mine laptop not with others.
So the issues is only with a perticuler laptop.
I would like to explain you again in detail..

See.
I've a laptop X located at point A now I relocated to point B.
A soon as I plug network cable at point B the laptop X internet doesn't work.
If I use a laptop Y at point B then internet working without any problem.
Now What I've done, I changed the port opposit to it from Switch.
So the Point A turned to Point B and point B turned to point A (only I've chenged the cable from switch).
Now the weired thing happens is that If I'm plugging laptop X to the Point A then internet started working.
But even it started working at Point B.

The cubicle at Point B is Jinxed..... it just doesn't like your laptop.
The only explanation I can think of for such an issue is the Crosscrimped Cable that is being used in point B.
You need to check the crimping used in the cable running from the switch to point B. check both ends ie both RJ45 connectors, also check the type of cable being used.

In your experiment, the facts proven are:
Both Ports on the switch are working.
Both the cables are also working.

What comes to ones mind is:
Maybe somewhere down the line a cable got spoilt and someone changed it to a newer one.
Maybe your laptop has been at point A since day one and is a generation older so, to tweak it up to network speeds , a particular setting was changed, that is dependent on the kind of cable that is being used.

Or Maybe your's is a later laptop and the cable in Point A went bad some time back and was replaced with a newer one, thus corresponding with your laptop's config (Network)....

If the cables from the switch to the Point A working with your laptop is not concealed then, just lifting the cable and getting it to point B and trying your laptop would be helpful.
Or if you're willing to spend a little money, buy a long enough cable and test it out at three or four different places with your laptop including at home with a router to see if it works fine and then test the same cable at work.
