I am currently having troubles with my connection. After a while of using the internet, I would lose connection even though that my wireless card is still connected...

Typing ipconfig in CMD gives me "Media disconnected", I have reset both the router and my PC. If I leave it for an hour or so, I'd be reconnected.

It isn't just me that experiences this, a few other of my house mates do as well, and it's pretty much the same situation. My guess is, is that some devices get timed out because of too many connections to the router.

Anyone have any suggestions to a permanent fix? Thanks :)

there's just 1 wall and a floor obstructing the router. There are 6 people in total in the house. Virgin Media is my ISP and they have provided us with a router. And I have a TP-LINK Dual Band wireless adapter http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-WDN4800-450Mbps-Wireless-Express/dp/B007GMPZ0A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1412521390&sr=8-2&keywords=wireless+card

I'm pretty sure it's not a problem with my wireless card. I'm currently connected to the internet and everything is working, but it is probably going to d/c again by tonight or tomorrow.

I would assume that there is an interference issue with the disconnects. You can try to drop the connection, then connect again. If this is a big problem, you might consider running an Ethernet run to the 2nd floor and either set up an access point or wired connections. Powerline adapters may help if you can't run the cabling through the walls.
