Question Internet Lag Spikes

im asking on behalf of a friend. so my friend plays online multiplayer games and roughly every 30 seconds he gets a massive lag spike. the problem is not limited to the servers he is playing on because we saw the same issues when on discord and while pinging google. and we found the same issues his laptop even when right next to the router which is on top of a fridge. he cant go wired or even test it. and the issue has only appeared up in the last 3 days or so. only about 6 devised would be connected at one time and both the pc and the router has been restarted. might also be worth mentioning that the wifi drivers have also been updated. thanks in advance for any help
