Internet not working

I have a windows 7 computer, and i have had it for a long time now. My computer starts up, but the internet doesn't. It's connected, but it says "This webpage is not available" so i was wondering how can i solve this issue. Any tips or advice are much appreciated.

Wired or wireless or both?

All drives seem okay in device manager?

Can you ping outside of your LAN to your ISP for example?

Have you tried changing the DNS server used to the Google public domain servers (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4)?

both. It is usually wireless though. I don't know how to get to device manager. i tried to go to my control panel. My bad i messed up the connection doesn't work, it says it's connected, but there is a red X where the connection status is.

There is a device manager icon in the control panel page -- look at each adapter under "network adapters" in the device manager.

What exactly did you do that "messed up the connection?" Did you disable the adapters, delete their drivers? What you did is the key to fixing the problem.
