Internet problem at home, doesn't understand why.

Hi. Let me exsplain my problem. It was in the middle of the night. I was just watching a vid when all of the sudden my internet cuts of and I'm unable to rejoin. It also cut of on my 3ds. It rejoined after a couple of seconds but that's not the point. I really need some help understanding this here. And why it happend. Both of my parents where upstairs and the internet box thingy is downstairs on the same floor as my room. I really really need some help understanding here.

Unless this happens a lot I suggest tag it as one of those insignificant mysteries in life. Otherwise how often and does it happen to everybody in the house and when it happens I want to know what's your CPU load and does anything else freezes or just the Internet, wired or wireless?
