Hi guys i am right near next to the green zone, i am 4.5km on TPG i have gotten 5mbps before (500kb/s) on a good day and i usually get 4.5mb/s, on steam i have seen it go above 600-700 also on origin with main connection i have gotten 1mb/s and also 6mb/s only once i think it happened.

Here is my speed test

Now i know if i moved across the road, i would be in green zone. I can't get cable because im in a area that got developed over time 8 years or so i have been around my area, its a shame they did not make there own infrastructure for internet right near me, since there is many houses around.

Is there anyway i could improve speed, maybe changing to Telstra or Internode, i am using a Netgear DGND3700.

Green Zone? I'm Australian and I dont know what your referring too here, something to do with the NBN?

Its really a difficult question, because quite simply we don't know whether this is an issue with TPG's service or the infrastructure in your area.

Examine your plan with TPG and see if they state anywhere what speeds you should be getting, you could make a claim that they aren't upholding their end of the bargain. That being said, most ADSL2+ plans (which I assume your on) usually just say "up to 20Mbps" with an asterisks somewhere saying your mileage may vary.
If its down to infrastructure, then theirs nothing you can really do (I suppose you could write an angry letter to the Liberals demanding a proper NBN). Switching to Telstra, iinet or whoever isn't going to make copper appear in the ground.

If the guys across the road do have better internet, maybe sort out a deal with them. Supply a router powerful enough to get across the street to you and subsidize the internet usage you incur.

With no monthly cap. ~$65/month.

Thank you FiOS.

That upload is crazy. The providers here in the land of hockey and maple syrup cap the upload speeds at really low levels for some reason. Mine for example is capped at 3mbps up, but on a good day I can get 75mbps down. Stupid, lol.

Mine was done around the same time. It's odd though, I don't think Shaw's network can handle congestion well. Everyone's cable here is digital now, and so is sent through the same wires used for internet. When there's a big game on TV, or every Thursday when all the new episodes air, my internet slows to a crawl. They're in the process of upgrading to fiber optic, but god only knows how long until they'll finish. Could be decades at this rate.
