Hello all,
I saw this question asked last year but wanted to add some more and ask some more about it.

My reason for wanting to do this is have my entire network behind a VPN not just my computers. I use an apple tv3, and watching netflix i can see it get throttled down. I setup privateinternetaccess.com on my router and the issue went away. The problem with using the router as the VPN is that you loose a significant amount of bandwidth due to the routers VPN processing power and I want to avoid that, so I would prefer to share my internet connection on one PC with the other via a router so that I can attached my apple tv's, ps3 etc... to the router.

Is this even possible?

My systems run on windows 7 pro 64 and my router is a netgear WDNR4500.

Work done so far:

I have enabled internet sharing (ICS) on adapter#1, modified the registry to set adapter#2 to my desired address and I have the router connected and the network is up and running.
I am unable to get internet access on the computer connected to the router yet, and I believe that is due to some router settings, but I will keep working at it.

Thanks for your time,

Solution
Ok first and foremost you have to connect to router WAN port, not LAN port or attempt to configure this PC as a DMZ.
By plugging PC into LAN port the router thinks it is bellow it, and is trying to assign an IP to the computer.

You should have been able to set the IP address manually under the adapter settings in the control panel for the 2nd Ethernet port adapter.

You would then set routers WAN settings to be Auto DHCP.

On the PC you need to bridge Adapter 1 and Adapter 2 together. Go to network and sharing center, adapter settings, use ctrl key to be able to select both adapters, right click and hit bridge.

On a side note I hope this VPN computer is for the sole purpose of VPN only.
Any device between the modem and the router is...
Are you trying to make your PC just be a VPN server between the modem and router or what is your logical diagram of equipment?

Did you bridge the two lan connections? Why did you have to edit the registry to static set adapter #2s IP address?
What is the router configured for its WAN address?
Is PC plugged into WAN or LAN port of the router?

Thanks for the response, I see now I was definitely missing information.

"Are you trying to make your PC just be a VPN server between the modem and router or what is your logical diagram of equipment?"
Yes this is what I am looking for.
Modem to PC adapter #1 set to share internet.
Adapter#2 connected to WNDR4500 on lan port
PC#2 connected to router on lan port of WNDR4500.
Apple TV's connected to wireless.

Why did you have to edit the registry to static set adapter #2s IP address?
Well ICS sets it to a default 192.168.173.1 and for some reason my router had an issue being set to 192.168.173.2, i could never log back in so I change the registry to be a default 192.168.1.1

Did you bridge the two lan connections?

No I don't think so, this router is a bit weird in its configuration, im not super savy on this stuff but I did try to follow this link to cascade with no success.

What is the router configured for its WAN address?
Not sure, TBH was avoiding messing with it..

This router has 3 options to adjust.
Internet setup - this has ip address, subnet gateway
Wan just has wan address and other check boxes for dmz etc..
Lan has lan TCP/IP settings and DCHP server option and range

So that's where I am at currently.

Any device between the modem and the router is not protected and left much more open to attach on the internet.
