[SOLVED] Internet speed beyond normal even with new Router

Hi Expert,

I getting network speed way below what I paid for. I am using 1gbps network speed and my new router is an ISP provided, I am getting close to it only at 400mbps+ most, as my old router I am getting only 100mbps+. The technician from my ISP used its laptop to test and it getting 850mbps+ from 3 test.

• My desktop is windows 10 with Rog Strix Z370-F gaming motherboard
• My Desktop is far from router with around 10m away using cable Cat 5e
• Speed test result getting only 100-400mbps+
• I have Vmware Pro and Oracle VM VirtualBox install, will the created network there affect the speed?

Appreciate if any expert can assist me on how to check and find the bottleneck.

The "ROG Game First" software can limit download speeds on very high speed internet connections.
If you are testing from a VM then your speed could be impacted. If you are testing from the native OS it shouldn't be.

Can you verify if any other wired devices have this issue? Otherwise, try booting into safe mode with networking. See if your speed is normal in safe mode.

I have found out the bottleneck already it's from my sister gaming on her tablet and phone, as the router is nearer to her. Also, my other family members using as well, I try speed test using EDGE on the morning was shocked to see over 900mbps, once they wake up and start gaming and i getting 500+ best on https://fast.com/ only.
