Internet Speed doubled?

Bought and have 50 mbps Blast from Comcast. I reset my router and modem and now I have 100mbps? I checked and I'm still on my 50 plan, did comcast just do something not crappy, I'm confused.

I live in... Well I don't want to ruin a good thing here haha.
Anyone else have this happen?

How are you testing your speed? It is very possible they went to 100mb. It's also possible they you're just seeing the fairly standard burst speeds many cable companies implement.

Sometimes they temporarily put you on a different plan to make sure you get the full speed. I would wait a few days and see.

They also may be upgrading the plans in your area.

I tested it through Speedtest.net. Then I downloaded some games through steam and it was consistent with the Speedtest results..

I didn't see anything on their site about changing speeds. Although.... google is moving into a city nearby me right now, so maybe it has something to do with that?
I'll report back in a few days see if it keeps.

Sometimes the users find the speed upgrade before it is announced. If Google Fiber is coming, that would make total sense.

Hey all, the speed double kept.

It seems that Comcast has upgraded Colorado, Washington, Oregon, and Utah. They doubled the speeds as of Dec 16th on most of their blast plans. If you live in one of these states, go reset your modem!

Wow, now this is a good "problem" to have.

Amazing that when Google Fiber starts to show up, the cable companies can all of a sudden offer some real speed for the same price. Quite the coincidence!
