Internet speed Problem

In my college's Wifi , I am only able to get 500kBps speed where as the actual speed provided is around 10MBps. All my friends are able to get that speed in laptop except me. Whereas when I use my personal hotspot the speed goes around 5MBps . The problem arises when I connect to my college wifi.
I tried almost everything and nothing seems to work. Can anyone please help me to sort out the problem.
