For some strange reason when my PC is switched on the Upload an Download speeds of my house drop dramatically. Before this all other devices connecting to the internet operate perfectly fine. However, as soon as my PC connects to our Wi-Fi router every experiences issues with the connection. This has only occurred within the last month or two, largely ignored it as i have rarely used my PC recently. AVG came back with nothing but a incorrect signature for a steam game and MalwareBytes found files that when deleted did not change anything. I largely ignored this problem as I have hardly used my PC recently. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated!

Nothing wrong with being from the UK.

Can you think of anything on your desktop that requires Internet access, and if so, can you shut it down temporarily?

What wireless standard are you using (802.11 a, b, g, n, ac)? What frequency?

Also, how secure is your wireless connection?

*EDIT* Must be 2.4 GHz then, if a wireless mouse was interfering. Glad to hear your problem is fixed!
How does everything else connect to the network? Wirelessly?

Also, what router are you using?

I've seen routers that for some reason would drop in performance when serving wired and wireless connections. I had an old Linksys RT31P2 (Vonage phone router, if you are curious) that would lock up when loaded down with traffic from a desktop computer plugged in and a wireless router with 1 desktop, 2 laptops, a Playstation 3, and a Roku connected to it. It seems like the cheaper the router, the more likely it is for something like this to happen.

It's a router that my ISP (Sky) (sorry for being in the UK) provided.
Everything connects wirelessly, we have never experienced a problem like this.
At the minute just my computer is connected (along with idle phones) and the speeds are still coming up very low.
Speeds typically have been between 5-7 MB/s but at the minute when my PC is on the speeds can be between 0.1 - (somehow) 4 MB/s though that only speeds to occur and bot oddly in speed tests.

Found the problem, i received a wireless mouse and keyboard set for Christmas, realizing this i decided to see if the were interfering with the spectrum. Upon switching the off and using a wired set the speeds returned to normal.
