Internet switches to "Limited Access" when i download steam games

Every time i go to download a steam game it starts downloading at 5mb/s then slowly goes down until it goes below 1mb/s and then my internet connection crashes and i must unplug my adapter and plug it back in. The internet does not shut down on any other device only my PC. I have a Belkin n300 wireless usb adapter and a copy of windows 7 64 bit.

Seems like the wireless adapter can't handle the high bandwidth. Try limiting download speed to let's say 4mb/s.

I tried lowering the limit all the way down to 1000kb/s but the issue still persists

Can you try a different USB slot. If the problem still persists, then it is within the wireless adapter.

yea changing usb didn't work so it must be the adapter

Yeah, unfortunately, maybe you could get a pci adapter, they tend to work better, if your motherboard can handle it of course.

yeah i probably will but i find it really weird that it does this only to games downloaded on steam and not any other applications like the blizzard app or google chrome.

i found that switching my wireless mode from 802.11b/g/n to 802.11b/g seemed to have partially fixed my problem it make it a bit slower (around 2 - 3mb/s) but it is better than nothing
