Interpreting a HDD's Heath Status when labelled "Caution" by CrystalDiskInfo

Hi,

I am using a nifty program called Crystal Disk Info 4.6.2 to inform me of the health statuses of my hard drives. My 3 internal drives are "OK", but my 2.5" external hard drive is labelled "Caution" by the program.

I would like to sell it to a friend who needs more storage space ( I have plenty), but I don't want to sell him a drive that is likely to have a short life span. It only has 1279 "powered on hours", and 1015 "powered on counts".

So, I have 3 main questions, and welcome any advice and comments. They are:
(1) Is this external hard drive reliable enough to warrant selling to my friend?
(2) What is a reasonable life span that can be expected from it?
(3) What is an approximate fair price (I realize local markets vary)?

Note:

The "caution" is due to the Current Pending Sector Count and the Uncorrectable Sector Count. See below:

Attribrute name..................................Current........Worst..........Threshold..........Raw Values

Current Pending Sector Count.............100.............100................0..................000000000002
Uncorrectable Sector Count.................100.............100................0..................000000000002

In case it is needed, I will paste the entire table of info below (hopefully all this mumbo-jumbo pastes in a readable form, I don't think I could tell the difference). Thank-you in advance! :)

But don't all hard drives have lots of "extra" sectors built-in to them in case some go bad? My understanding is that this is normal and this drive only has 2 bad sectors, if I am reading correctly. I read once that it might have a pool of 100 "extra" sectors built in, and as long as the drive isn't increasing in bad sectors, it is stable and ok.

SMART errors are generally a good enough reason for a drive manufacturer to RMA a drive. That said, I wouldn't feel comfortable selling it unless you tell the person about the errors and sell it "as is".

Sure, a drive has spare sectors, but generally once you start getting them the drive will continue to get worse.

The HDD in my Internet box has over 50 bad sectors, but I'm not worried about it because the data are not vitally important. I just wouldn't feel good about passing it on to someone else, especially a friend. A previous Seagate drive survived for several years with a steadily increasing reallocated sector count until I withdrew it from service, even though it was still working without issue.

It's a matter of personal judgment.

I'm glad I kept it - after filling the drive to 92% capacity (38.8 GB free of 465 GB total), I checked it's status again with CrystalDiskInfo. It now reads as "Good"! The Current Pending Sector Count and the Current Uncorrectable Sector Count are both 0.

I am curious to know how this is possible. Did copying all that information give it a way to fix itself? Any ideas???

Here is the complete info on the drive that I am able to show:

The Reported Uncorrectable Errors are still there, but the "Pending" errors have been cleared. These sectors were previously identified as unreadable and marked as "pending reallocation". The drive then waits for the host to write to them at some future time, at which time the drive knows that the existing data are no longer required. The drive then retests these sectors and returns them to service if good, or replaces them with spares if they are confirmed bad. These spare sectors then appear in the Reallocated Sector Count attribute.
