interpreting router review/comments

Hello all - new to the forum here; didn't find a thread specifically addressing my area of interest so taking the liberty to post a question here.

I'm looking for a new wireless router to repalce my n600 Netgear which has come to be very unstable (I have to reboot it often). But my question is not about choosing the right router feature set its about the fact that when I read the amazon customer reviews, fully 100% of the top rated routers (dlink, netgear, asus AC routers for example) have some small percentage of comments reportingthat performance degrades over time. Why is this?

is it not possible to find a Wifi router that is stable, fast, reliable, and doesn't start to disapoint after a few weeks/months?

It's impossible to find anything that is 100% positive. Also keep in mind that a lot more people with issues will make those public than those that have no issues. So behind every good review there are probably 50 more like it that just don't bother posting anything.

Even the top ranked items that end up with 4 or 5 stars have several 1,2,3 star reviews.

Many performance issues with routers can be fixed with a firmware update or a simple reboot.

So how does one go about choosing a router that doesn't requried frequent reboots, and doesn't degrade in performance over time?

MOST good routers don't need frequent reboots. Just pick one with a top rating that has a good number of reviews. Like I said, there is just about NOTHING on the planet that won't have some issues. You can buy the most reliable car ever made as an example, and you can find someone that has issues with it.
