Once a day or so, the TV I use for my PC goes black, with the message. "Invalid input" showing. It stays like this for maybe 15-20 seconds, then the TV comes back on and I can use it as normal.

Does anyone know what is causing this? The TV, or the PC?... and how would I fix it?

I am still having this problem and still don't know where to even begin to start and look so as to diagnose it. If anyone could give me a few pointers/hints, that would be great.

The image flashed blue "interference" at times. I know nothing about computers... but feel the blue interference maybe be linked to the GPU?

this would normally be because your system went to sleep/hibernation and the TV lost the signal until the system was re-awakened.

could be due to a lower quality cable.

could be someone nearby running a microwave, etc.

could be a malfunctioning display
or GPU but i have never seen this error in a regular OS.

connect to another TV or a real monitor and see if the issue(s) continue.

"TV or a real monitor and see if the issue(s) continue."

Yeah, why didn't I think of that. I've changed TVs. Why can't simple people see the simple solution...

I'll report back soon... as it happens more frequently now. If within 2 hours no interference, it's the TV.

Yeah, it seems to be the TV...

Does anyone know how/what needs to be done to fix a TV with an intermittent "invalid format" problem?

maybe an issue with the software/firmware
or just a bad port where the cable doesn't always sit properly in place.

had you previously tried the TV's different HDMI ports?
assuming that it has multiple available.
Now that I'm sure it's the TV, I will be doing that. Still embarrassed I didn't even think to rule out the Tv in the first place.

If it is one port. Buying a new port and taking the TV apart to replace the port, wouldn't be overly difficult?

It's not necessarily the physical port you see.

The fault may lie farther in, on the circuit board.
