Hello! I'm wondering if somene can help. My HD crashed and I had Windows 7 installed on it. Since then, I have replaced the HD but now when I try to use th product key for the new HD it is invalid. I had this disk less than a year, I really don't want to buy another Vindows 7 if I don't have to. A friend told me to call Microsoft to ask for another product key, but what I got was someone who couldn't speak english and they wanted to charge me $79.99 to remotely log onto my computer to "fix my issue". Since the computer has no way of going on-line, I had an uneasy feeling about that so I hung up. What number can I call to talk to someone??

Figured as much, that's why I hung up. Do we know a phone number? I called two different "Microsoft numbers" and they both wanted to charge me and access my computer. Completely freaky!

Huh? Windows itself should give you the number to call. You enter your product key and it will say that it was unable to activate. You pick the option to activate it over the phone, tell it your country, and it will give you a toll free number to call. It's all automated, you won't actually speak with a person.
