Invert mouse: Freelancer or windows

I played Freelancer all the way though a long time ago. I thought it
was a cool game and have always wanted to play it again, but I've got
a major problem with the controls. In FPS , flight sims, ect I use the
invert mouse option. (push forward to look or go down)

Unfortunatly Freelancer seems to be hardwired the other way. Last time
I played it I spent 3 weeks retraining myself to use that control
system and couldn't play anything else while I was playing it. Soon as
I finished FL I went back to using my normal mouse orientation. (I
just can't use non-invert in a shooter)

Does anyone know of a way to invert the mouse vertical axis in
Freelancer? How about a program to invert the mouse in windows? (I
could cope with it being a bit more awkward to run the game if it
would solve my problem once it was running)
Any ideas?

I don't think anyone managed to hack it, but I'm not positive. But
having played it, I felt I must warn you that in my opinion, inverting
the mouse would make the game harder in many ways, because of
the whole mouse mode vs flight mode thing. In flight mode you'd
be styling but when you go into the mode where you get the cursor
and can click on the hud icons, etc, the mouse would be backwards
for up and down. I think that was the problem with coming up with
a hack for it.

I've considered that. In my mind I'd have to view the mouse pointer as
being like a gunsite on a FPS. Even if it was more awkward, I'd rather
be using an uncomfortable control setup when I was on a station buying
cargo instead of in space trying to fight.

Of course a good compromise would be a windows program that I could
toggle with a hotkey. The trick is finding one.
