Hello everyone, just wanted to ask if its alright if i use my inverter to use my pc in case of a blackout because blackouts are not so common in my area, maybe once in a week or two.
I am currently using it on the inverter and when there is a blackout, my pc runs af if nothing has happened but i recently heard that its not good for my pc. Is it really true or just a myth?

Thank you
Gagan

Solution
It depends on the type of AC waveform the inverter outputs and if the inverter can handle the wattage of the PC. If you have a 500W inverter with a good sinewave output then you are OK. If you have a 200W inverter with a modified squarewave output, then you are looking for trouble. The type of batteries the inverter is connected to makes a difference also.

A UPS is an inverter. But it is only active when the AC MAINS are out. The rest of the time the inverter is inactive.

I don't know that much about inverters and batteries but the transition between blackout and inverter kicking in is not even noticable so i think that i will be good for now. Thanx for the reply mates. Cheers.
