Invisible DVD Drives

Hello im having a weird problem i have a samsung dvd multi recorder and an old cd writer i havent used them in months as i back up all my data into ISO image files so i can boot them from Daemon tools lite so the disc drives been pritty much unused but looked after well.

The problem is i have just bought Red Alert 3 for the pc and when i try to install the game there is nothing onscreen in my computer i cant even eject the drive without getting an windows error message same with the CD writer drive no other discs work there is power in the drives they open and close fine and sound like there functioning ok but windows doesnt even reconise its there

I opened up the computer and checked the wiring and nothings came loose also i tested them in a old pentium 4 computer and they work great

Anyone know what can be done to repair this Also running windows 7
