iOmega 2TB drive on Win 8.1

My external 2TB iOmega is suddenly showing as a removable Disk device with no disk inserted. What has changed?

If it helps, the drives both work on other systems not using Win 8.1

You can try the following: Go to Device Manager -> Uninstall the drive -> Unplug it -> Reboot system -> Plug it back in and let it install automatically.

Tried that but exactly the same result. I note that Microsoft updated the drivers last month and that was when the trouble started. I will get an old computer and network it, that way I will be able to access my files.

Yeah, that may be a good idea.
You can try completely deleting the USB drivers and install them after that.

I meant not to uninstall the device itself, but to uninstall the USB controllers and re install them.
