Iomega hard drive does not get formatted

If I insert the hard drive on the laptop & try to format the same. it is not showing the black bar on the top. insted it shows blue bar & not getting formatted. Even it does not show the 475 GB containt. I am not able to use the hard drive. What is the solution???????????

The drive may have failed. Test it with SeaTools for Windows: http://www.seagate.com/support/downloads/seatools/

If the test gives a "failed" result (Long test), it may just be the converter-board within the drive enclosure that has failed. Try to remove the drive and buy a third-party external enclosure for it.
