Iomega hard drive troubleshooting

Hello, my 1.5 TB Iomega external hard drive worked when i first used it, but now it doesn't work. the computer recognises a drive in the USB port, but every time i try to access it, it asks me to 'insert a disk in the drive'. I have data stored on there that i do not with to use, and i need the storage space. how can I fix this problem?

Try removing the hard drive from the enclosure and formatting it if you don't need the data.
The enclosure may be bad. You can buy a new enclosure at Newegg.com.
