Hi

My iomega nas has failed and i'm in the process of data recovery. I've found some good info on this site and others regarding data recovery.
Using linux i've managed to sort out the file structure such that I can see all my folders etc with the drive mounted onto an external sata enclosure, now i want to start copying files across. My issue is on the explorer in linux, 16.04 lxle, all my folders have a padlock on them and when i try to copy i get a "no permission" type pop up.
Can anyone give me any pointers on getting round this.

Thanks in advance.

Danny

The drive had permissions set up on it using the iomega interface. I think that restricted access to certain folders for certain users.
But as far as I'm aware no encryption.

Using that utility may have encrypted the files. You need to check the specifics of the drive.

Also you said that the NAS failed, if you had to use some utility to get your data back, it may be that the data was not actually properly restored to usable form. For example you could have the file names there and maybe even a size showing as files, but the file itself may be corrupt.
