IOMEGA Prestige External Hard Drive not working with Windows 8?

I have read several threads concerning this topic but I can't seem to connect this device to my laptop. I have a brand new Toshiba with Windows8. I can hear the device being connected with the *bing* sound but there are no prompts to get this started. I have tried nonstop for days.

Someone please help!

Does the drive show up in Device Manager or Disk Management? Check those two to see if it shows up. Is the drive a new one or has it worked with another computer?

Having the same problem, not only with Iomega External Harddrives but also with Western Digital, neither one have drivers for Windows 8 users. (and to add more insults HP has nothing for Windows 8 laserjet printers). So what to do????????? No one seems to care from all these big businesses.

Iomega says most of their drives work under win8 but the encyrption won't so if you are using tha t feature it looks like you might need to format the drive in drive manager. But first i would make sure the drive works on a win7 pc and do a backup of it first just in case it turns out there is stuff you needed.
