So basically i have the main router downstairs and then i have an edimax br-6428nS v2 up stairs connected to my main router downstairs which is providing internet to the whole upper layer of my home

i wanted to make a server so me and my other friends can play together and enjoy the holiday i tried to port forward and i successfully did but it is still blocked according to some applications and some tests it says "Filtered" i dont know how so what i did is

1) I enabled UPNP on my main router (dlink DSL - 6850u)
2) I entered edimax interface and turned off the firewall and enabled upnp however when i did this i accdiently clicked on the restart button instead of the save button

so what happened is the router upstairs ran the IQ setup and i did all over again
i stumbled across something i couldnt figure out it says
"select and continue"
1.Dynamic
2.PPoE
3.and some other bullshit

i chose dynamic and after that my ip changed to 192.168.2.x and i want it to switch to the normal 10.0.0.x like it did before

question 1 : how do i fix this issue and make my ip 10.0.0.x
question 2 : what the hell i filtering my ports

thanks for reading

Solution

If you are using the upper router as a router not just an AP you wont be able to use NAT. Turn the Upper router into just an Access Point on the same subnet as the main router and connect them together via the LAN ports not the WAN on the Upper router.
well usually 192.168.2.1 or 1.1 is what you usually have from the router to you computer. that is what you enter to get in to the settings on the router. Depending on your isp you probably want to use static ip anyways bc most companies only send one ip address any ways. also if your trying to host a game port forwarding is the way to go you might just need to add more ports int there. I just did this with un2k4 which turned in to a hassle make sure to google what all the ports that game needs to bypass. hope this helps

i did port forward but its being filtered by something i have a static external ip

thats the issue when i port forward on the upper one i do it successfully with the ip 192.168.2.100
but when i enter this ip to the main one it doesnt work it only works if its 10.0.0.x

yes im trying to port forward through two routers
how can i do that

my main router (router 1) ip is 10.0.0.138
my edimax router is : 192.168.2.1
PC connected to edimax ipv4: 192.168.2.100
there is an option of a static ip , dynamic ip, PPoE

help pls

Solution

The upper router is just like a dumb router i disabled firewall and stuff like that i just want it to be like an access point

But how have you connected them together??

Using a lab port

OMG thank you
you are a life saver
when i ran the IQ setup again there was 3 options

1.Router
2.Access point
3.idk

i chose router in the beginning but now when you mentioned AP
i chose it and it fixed the whole issue ilysm <3

No problem!!!!! dont forget to pick best answer!! ALL YOUR PORT FORWARDS ARE DONE ON MAIN ROUTER!!!!

yea thanks although i still have an issue with the ports being filtered and my pc is acting as a DMZ
i wanna ask you a question could it my internet provider who is blocking ports or something ?

Very unlikely, what ports are you trying to forward?

25565 udp/tcp

Because my isp offered me a cheaper version package basically the package is the same but cheaper and I find that a bit suspicious

Very unlikely they would block ports that minecraft uses, there really is no benefit for them in doing so.

ok thanks again ^-^
