IP configuration not valid (ethernet)

as the title says, this is the error im getting when trying to troubleshoot my connection problem. things i have tried,
using both cmd and powershell in admin mode and doing the following commands:

• 
  ipconfig /release
  ipconfig /renew
  numerous other ip commands followed by a reboot

Ive also changed the power setting "fast start" to off as mentioned in numerous tutorials.
Ive followed as many tutorials on the subject that i can and still no connection on my pc. all other devices work however.

Ive also tried replacing the ethernet cable, switching ports and resetting my ethernet adaptors.

any and all ideas welcome.

The port could be dead on the motherboard. Happens sometimes if you're not getting a connection anyway.

possibly, however ive got wifi built into the mobo too, and im getting the same error
