Ok, so recently I found my old ipad 1 lying around in my house, I wanted to use it for some general tasks around the house as I love the screen size on it, but since it is on iOS 5.1.1 that is impossible as the apps I want do not support it. I have it jailbroken, and I was wondering if there was a way to install iOS 6 or even possibly 7 on it through this jailbreak. I know 7 is likely impossible, but what about 6, I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work. Most people say RAM issues due to its large screen, but compared to the ipod touch 4g it has identical specs and because of the retina display on the 4 the ipad 1 only has 25% more pixels to push then it. Because of this, is it at all possible to jailbreak 6 onto it? Thank you in advance.

I don't think there is any way to install a newer iOS on an iPad 1. I have seen them for sale for about $100 even then so you may be better off selling it and getting a 2. The iPad 2 and up will run the latest iOS.

I'm not for sure about updating it with the jailbreak on it, but I would recommend restoring it, updating it, then jail breaking it again if you feel it's necessary.

Sorry I couldn't help with your question, but thought I would give my advice.
