Question iPad

I am currently playing fortnite with an iPad 5 on champions league and every game, there is 20-35 people on the last few zones. My iPad can’t handle all the stress from everyone packed in such a tight space. I have $500 and I want to buy a new iPad and I’m currently looking into the iPad Air. I don’t want any refurbished items or used items. Can someone that used the iPad Air 3 please review the iPad and if that iPad can’t handle the stress, please state an alternative device. Thank you
