Iphone 4s activation lock .

My brother gave me this 7 year old iphone 4s . Before handing it to me , his friend used it with his id . The guy did a restore on the 4s without signing it out . So when i got this phone , it was saying to connect to itunes , so i did and a restore and now there's is a activation lock. I tried finding that guy but he is no where to be found and tried many steps on youtube on bypassing but with no luck . So is there no way to bypass this activation lock , might aswell throw this phone in the garbage . Why would apple design such things , someone can easily lock your phone.If anyone out there have a solution , please let me know.

Take it to the Apple store, and be prepared to provide proof of ownership.

I can't do that , there's no apple store here and i have no proofs of this 7 year old device.

Your only other option is contacting your brothers friend to get the sign in information. It's an anti theft measure, so if someone steals the phone it's useless to them, most smart phones have some version of this.

Why would apple design such things

So that people don't just steal the phone and use it easily. That's why. Not your phone, not your brothers phone, but a "friend of his"? Sorry, but sketchy as heck if you ask me. You really need to deal with Apple on this. No one here can help you.
