I brought an IPhone 5 from one of my friends because it wouldn't power on and I wanted to fix it and use it, I got the phone to power on because the old battery had blew, I then noticed the screen was broke so I replaced that and when it turned on it came up with the connect to iTunes logo, so I plugged it into my PC and it failed with error code 3 I then tried it in DFU mode still wouldn't work, I tried a different PC and that didn't work either.

So basically is there anything else I could do to try fix this or is the phone bricked

The "Freezer trick" seems to help a whole lot with the mysterious error 3.
But, you should still go to...
Apple isn't going to do anything if it's out of warranty, and especially not if its visibly damaged in anyway (Chipped/bent corners, rear housing, etc).
The best thing they will offer you out of warranty is a slightly discounted price on a new phone.

Are you SURE you were in DFU mode? If the phone is visibly on in anyway (logo on screen, or being able to get to the homescreen) you are not in DFU mode.
If you are doubly sure you are in DFU mode, try uninstalling itunes and re installing it (to the latest version).

Yes im sure i was in DFU mode where the screen just stays blank, and i already tried reinstalling itunes
