Question iPhone 6S problem with data access

So recently in my sisters iPhone screen stopped working, phone itself is working fine because we can hear ringtone and everything. She asked me to save photos from gallery for her and here the problem starts. In Itunes it says that I have to update the software or clear all the data, of course I only want to save the photos so Im not clearing the data for sure. I downloaded the latest software and after like 10mins of installing it gives me error and says that iPhone cant be updated. I was never dealing with problem like that so I dont have any idea if there is any software that will let me access the iPhone just to save these photos. If any of you know how i can deal with it please let me know.

Without the screen you may have issues since there may be a prompt on it to hit something to start the setup.
The screen is totally dead or just touch is bad?

You can replace the screen for about $80 at a repair place.

Unfortunatelly the screen is totally dead. I know the replacement is not that expensive at all but she just wanted to get the photos and buy a new one, seems like we have to replace the screen anyway.
