IPhone- How to activate without SIM card and PC

I got an IPhone from a friend and have no SIM card to insert. I looked it up on Google and found several ways to hacktivate it with a PC but required you to download programs onto your PC. I don't like downloading programs on to my SSD and I just simply need a way to do it without the help of a PC.

Yes, I plan to use it as an ipod. Basically, I don't need service for it, I just want the apps.
