[SOLVED] Ipod help please!

So I'm not much an Apple guy. I'm putting music on to my friend's ipod. I think its a 3rd gen, with the touch screen. I did a reset on it, and it shows a pic of it wanting to connect to itunes on the screen, but when I do, nothing happens. The device doesn't even show up in itunes. My PC recognizes it, and I have updated to the latest itunes along with the latest drivers for the ipod (which is a 2006 driver.) Is there something I am missing? Any help would be appreciated!

Try putting your iPod in DFU mode. What is DFU? Device Firmware Upgrade

Step 1: Turn off your iPod touch completely and connect to your PC

Step 2: Hold down the Power button for 3 seconds

Step 3: Without releasing the power button, also hold the Home button for 10 seconds

Step 4: Without releasing the home button, release the power button and keep holding the Home button for 20 seconds.

iTunes will identify that you are in DFU mode.
