IPS 4ms vs TN 8bit 1ms?

Hi i started this thread just to get some feedback and to hear other peoples thoughts towards this as i am uncertain if i bought the right monitor. I have a asus rog swift 1ms 144hz TN panel 8bit 1440p panel, i choose this compared to the nice colors of the asus rog swift 4ms IPS 165hz monitor. Maybe i made the wrong decision, and that is why i am interested to hear what other people think. My logic is that if fast paced games i would notice ghosting with the 4ms, and it would annoy the hell out off me, but i never had a 4ms response time panel so i am just presuming. I know people with a 4ms panel will say they do not notice anything, but they could just be in love with there monitor to defend it.

i have always preferred monitor with less response time even if it is TN panel.Because i play mostly FPS games both online and offline. I have got TN panel with 1ms response time.. And i am quiet satisfied with that. According to me you have have made the right decision.

Personally, I have tried TN monitors with fast response times and also IPS type monitors with slower fast response times. I return all TN monitors because they just can't produce that rich color that make pictures pop. Games in particular use highly contrasting colors that look much better on IPS monitors. I made up my mind long time ago I will sacrifice some response time for much richer color in most applications.

*I have also used TVs with TN type panels vs IPS type panels. IPS panels win every time. It is all about your personal preference.

Depends on the monitor, some IPS monitors can have faster signal processing making input lag almost identical to TN types, XB270HU vs Rog Swift PG278Q for example.

The monitor i have is a TN, but it is a little better color display than the older TN models. I believe that they reefer to it as having 8 bit panel technology. As for input lagg i am a little skeptic about that the numbers maybe calculate even under tests giving a 4ms response time to be mathematically better than a 1ms response time panel, but the human eye will say different. i never really got a good sit down on a IPS monitor so i am in the deep blue ocean and am only hypothetically speaking. i think i will go to canada's computer and try to get a little bit of time on a IPS monitor that is on display. again i do not have a IPS but the notion i was under was that this monitor that i have is similar to color replication to a IPS. giving that all of the test produce simillar results. i have to say i am picking and have a very sharp eye and i play a lot of fast paced games, i would hate to be sitting there all the time and notice ghosting.

Also playing alot of first person shooters ghosting can really confuse the eye and make it hard to hit the target.

I am not going to return my monitor however , i made up my mind, if i where to do it would be asus rog swift 165hz 4ms IPS monitor. but there is a threshold that is a balance of graphic quality to refresh rates and 144hz is perfect. But what made me stick with this monitor is that it has 3d stereoscopic which i am a fan of, and love using it ToT. i think that IPS monitor that asus makes has too high refresh rates and it does not include stereoscopic.

This video i found on youtube show a side by side comparison and i have to say that it is a obvious decision. I know that the input lagg is not shown for these monitors. But if you watch this video the 4ms IPS panel clearly is very chunky and heavy compared to the 1ms response time panel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ett_tIi5s4s
Both these monitors in this video are using gsync, the IPS leaves lots of blurs and ghosting.
