IPS Greyed Out, Yellow Tinted Colours

Hi there

I recently received an order of an Asus VN248HA monitor (IPS 1080p) and I think the screen has a problem, the colours seem somewhat greyed out and muted, with a slight yellow tinge.

I've never had an IPS monitor before but I'm fairly sure something's wrong, it looks worse than my several year old TN panel. Iv'e tried adjusting settings on the monitor and it doesn't help, my drivers are all up to date to.

The new IPS display is on the right and my old TN one is on the left, sorry for the picture quality it's the best I could do, the difference is more pronounced in person.

Is something wrong with the hardware as I think or am I missing something?

Calibration and color temp. Seen side by side, it is easy to see a difference. If you had only the IPS, you'd probably never notice.
At the exact same settings, an ISP and TN will look different.

I get that, it's just the colours seem washed out and lackluster compared to my old TN monitor, from what I've read and understand this should not be the case for a brand new IPS monitor compared to a several year old TN one?

No matter what settings I choose or how I adjust anything it looks very poor, whites in particular look creamy and dull.
