Hi,
I'm currently in the market for a new monitor, and I am currently looking at these 2:
The Asus PG279Q which is an IPS Panel,

versus the new upcoming Asus PG27VQ, which is a TN panel with Quantum Dot and HDR ready
(not sure what that means) http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/tech-news-asus-rog-swift-pg27vq-165hz-monitor-featuring-quantum-dot-technology
What I care about is that will the TN with Quantum Dot and HDR be better than the IPS panel? While I can wait for the new monitor, I am already tempted to get the older pg279q. The curved panel vs the flat panel does not bother me in any way. And I do not care about response times since I am not going to play competitively. I am just concerned about what will be the better buy in terms of color reproduction and better display overall

Solution
Honestly if you're not playing competitively I wouldn't go with a 144Hz IPS.
Those are just so so error prone.

They did a test by buying 10 PG279Q and 6 of them had major issues or so (was a German magazine I think)
And it's the same with the Acer & AOCs

The only 144HZ IPS I'd recommend is this one Eizo with freesync as they test every display more extensively and got stricter quality control guidelines. But it doesn't come cheap.

If you're playing a lot of shooters where every millisecond counts and you need a higher refresh rate, go with a TN.
Otherwise get an IPS with less than 100Hz imo
